What Impact Can School-Based Counseling Have on Kids?
What is school-based counseling and how can it benefit your children? Jodi Salvo sits down with Mario Avalle, a school-based counselor with OhioGuidestone, to discuss the ins and outs of school-based counseling. Mario is inspiring, knowledgeable, and most importantly, you can hear his heart as he speaks about helping the children in our community.
Mario is a former Marine who experienced life-changing results through counseling. Now, Mario is focusing his professional counseling expertise at the school-aged level in the Newcomerstown and Tusky Valley school districts. He works with children from 2nd grade all the way to seniors in high school.
As promised, Mario is here to answer all your questions: what is school-based counseling? How does it work? What's the difference between a school-based counselor and a guidance counselor? What role do parents play in school-based counseling?
Also, Mario talks about the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it's had on children. He has some tips and advice for both kids and parents as we all find ways to deal with the situation in our world.
